Togashi Yoshihiro was born on April 26, 1966 in Yamagata Prefecture. Even though his first work was "Tonda Birthday Present" (1986), "Ten de Seiaku Cupid" is the one that first came out in the weekly Shounen Jump Magazine. Yuu Yuu Hakusho then followed which was published in 1990 on Shounen Jump also and was considered a great success, selling 40 million copies of all 19 volumes in Japan alone. After that, "Level E" came out in 1995, then "Hunter X Hunter" in 1998, which was also made into an anime like Yuu Yuu Hakusho.

Togashi-sensei is a recipient of the Tezuka award and is married to Takeuchi Noako, the creator and artist behind "Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon".
